About us

Art Macuxí is a crafts store located on the Taumanan (Crafts Center) waterfront in Boa Vista, Roraima, dedicated to promoting regional culture and strengthening indigenous crafts. The store sells a wide variety of pieces produced by artisans from various ethnic groups, such as the Yanomami, Waiwai, Wapishana, Iekwana, and others. Art Macuxí is more than just a point of sale — it is a space for the appreciation of cultural crafts, where each piece carries a story, ancestral knowledge, and pride in our roots.

Basketry

Indigenous basketry, produced by peoples such as the Yanomami, Yekuana and Warão, is an ancestral cultural manifestation that reflects the harmonious connection between the native peoples and nature. Handcrafted using techniques passed down through generations, the pieces use sustainable raw materials from the forest such as titica vine (a sturdy base), buriti fiber (detailed finishing) and black fungus thread (Perici) (reinforcement and adornments), ensuring durability and unique aesthetics.

Clay Pots

The clay pots and plates made by women from the Raposa, Normandia and Waimiri-Atroari ethnic groups are cultural and historical symbols that combine tradition and utility. Produced by hand using ancestral techniques, these utensils preserve knowledge passed down through generations, strengthening indigenous identity.

Balata, Crafts made from resin of the Maçaranduba tree

Produced by the Macuxi indigenous people in Roraima, it is a unique and traditional cultural expression from the North of Brazil. Using ancestral techniques, artisans manually shape the resin of the Maçaranduba tree, molding it while it is still fresh to create shapes that portray elements of the local culture.

Wood Crafts

The sculptures and paintings carved in wood are an authentic expression of the indigenous Macuxi culture, bringing with them ancestral knowledge and a connection to the history of the original peoples of Roraima. Created by hand, these pieces represent not only artistic beauty, but also a commitment to sustainability and the preservation of indigenous memory.

Biojewels

Indigenous necklaces are one of the most authentic forms of cultural expression of the native peoples of the Amazon. Handcrafted using traditional techniques, these biojewels represent the connection between indigenous people and nature and carry ancestral stories and symbolic meanings. The raw material used to make these pieces is 100% natural, composed of seeds such as morototo, boto's eye, mutun's eye, açaí, ingarana, paxiubinha and tento. These elements are carefully collected and prepared, ensuring that each necklace is a unique and special piece.

Paintings on Canvas

Handcrafted canvases are a unique manifestation of Amazonian art, bringing to light elements of the region's culture, fauna and flora. Produced entirely by hand, these works convey the identity and ancestry of the forest peoples. The creative process involves the use of burlap and paints, materials that give texture and depth to the paintings, resulting in unique pieces full of meaning. Each canvas reflects the connection between the artist and nature, translating stories, myths and traditions into vibrant colors and shapes.
